Very fine woodworking tool. It simply measures the saw slot, making grooving easier.
Works but took some work to get there
I own the smaller version of this tool from Bridge City and needed the larger version. This hongdui not only fits my need, but the build quality is every bit as good as the brand name version at less than half the cost. Very pleased.
Tried other gauges from the other vendors that looked identical. They did not work properly. Had to send them back. The other bands, tightening just one thumb wheel would lock down both slides.
I like gadgets; this one has been easy to use and accurate. The dadoes I cut did not even need glue.
Mark the limits of the dado on your workpiece, align the marks with the sled's kerf line, and cut. No fence, or fence displacement is needed.
If you have a crosscut sled set up for the blade you are using, the HONGDUI JF15 will be just as accurate, and faster.
