One thing I don't like is that switching between the 3D printing functionality and laser etching isn't simple. It's easy to do, but you have to unplug the wires and swap them (they're labeled to make it easy) and remove the laser.
The controller box that comes with this laser does all the work when properly connected to the X and Y stepper motors of your existing 3D printer.
